BZFlag is a free multiplayer multiplatform 3D tank battle game. The name stands for Battle Zone capture Flag. It runs on Irix, Linux, *v, Windows, Mac OS X and other platforms. It's one of the most popular games ever on Silicon Graphics machines. Your tank goes about on the world and shoots the opposing tanks. The teams are Red, Green, Blue, and Purple. Also Rogues, who are for themselves, shooting other rogues as well. Tanks can gain powerups by picking up flags. Game modes include:
1. Capture The Flag (CTF) in which one team (such as purple) works together and brings the other team's flag (such as blue team's flag) to their base. The team with the most flag captures wins in that mode, though personal points are still wonderful. Every time you kill a tank you earn your personal kill score (same with dying taking -1 point off of your score.) and in CTF it works the same with who captures who's flag.
2. Free For All (FFA) in which you will most likely find the rogue team. Team colors (purple, red, green, and blue) still work together to get the other team. There is a teamscore that is run by kills on FFA for the colors. Rogues are for themselves, and against all other rogues. The point is to kill the other tanks.
3. Rabbit Chase (RC) is basically the opposite of the game of tag. Everybody chases the person who is 'it', also known as the rabbit in this mode. The rabbit kills the hunters and tries to stay rabbit as long as possible. Running if he needs to. The other tanks are the hunters. They, as already stated, hunt the rabbit. Depending on the server, when the rabbit dies, one of these three server settings decide who is the nest rabbit:
a) Whoever kills the rabbit becomes the rabbit
b) Scoring makes the choice of who becomes the rabbit
c) The rabbit is picked at random.
These are the three main game modes in this magnificant game. To learn more visit the BZFlag Homepage (linked above) or the Official BZFlag Forums (linked above)
